Taxpayers are stuck with a $42 billion bill for a failing rural broadband project, while private companies like @Starlink could do it better and cheaper.

@chamath: “I’m so desensitized by the amount of waste that I don’t know whether 50 billion is a lot or a little anymore when it comes to the United States government.”

@DavidSacks: “$42 billion just spent on something that really taxpayers could have for free or without the government getting involved and you know 42 billion that was lining someone’s pocket when the service doesn’t even work that would have been a scandal.”

This massive spending is enriching someone rather than providing actual service. What was once a major scandal now goes unnoticed due to dwindling media scrutiny.
