During Wednesday’s two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kazakhstan, Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned American presidential frontrunner Donald Trump’s proposal to stop the war in Ukraine.

Speaking with reporters at the event, Putin said, “The fact that Mr. Trump, as a presidential candidate, says that he is ready and wants to stop the war in Ukraine, we take that very seriously. I haven’t seen his ideas on how exactly he’s going to do that and that is the key question, but I have no doubt that he says that sincerely and we support that.”

Trump has consistently supported getting the Ukraine-Russia war settled as soon as possible so people stop dying.

One of Trump’s top campaign talking points is that he will end the war as soon as he takes office.

With Putin already publicly agreeing to a negotiation, it appears as if Trump may have a good shot at settling the dispute by the time he is re-elected.
