Trump Campaign: Explosives Near Rally Site Story is ‘Fake News’
Trump campaign source calls Nassau County explosive reports “fake news”; police confirm.
A senior Trump campaign source has dismissed reports of explosives found near a Wednesday afternoon rally site in Nassau County, New York, as “fake news.” This was confirmed by Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
The story, initially published by the Daily Mail based on an OAN staffer’s tweet, claimed that explosives were discovered in a car near the rally venue and that the vehicle’s owner had fled into the woods.
Local authorities, including Nassau County officials and police, quickly debunked these claims, stating that the reports of explosives were unfounded.
The incident was clarified as a false alarm caused by an individual training a bomb detection dog near the site, who erroneously reported finding explosives.
