The language and sentiment inside the Russian Federation is shifting, as the populace becomes used to a war footing, and attacks on the Russian capitol continue from Ukrainian drones, and terrorists.
President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday for the first time that Russia is waging a “war” in Ukraine – not a “special military operation,” which has been the preferred official term for more than two years, And the day before, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced plans to establish three new armies – sparking speculation about another round of mobilization to raise the soldiers to man them, reported Russian independent news agency The Bell.
“We are in a state of war. Yes, it started out as a special military operation, but as soon as this group was formed, when the collective West became a participant in this on the side of Ukraine, it became a war for us,” Peskov told Arguments and Facts.
“I am convinced of that. And everyone should understand this, for their internal motivation.”
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said Thursday that Russia’s production of artillery shells has increased by nearly 2.5 times over the past year as Moscow is significantly out-producing the West, reported AntiWar.com
Shoigu also said that Russia was producing components for artillery at a rate of 22 times what it could make last year. “Speaking about manufacturing of artillery munitions, the volume of production of components to such ammunition was increased by almost 22 times,” he said.
Recent attacks on Russian energy facilities by Ukraine resulted in a massive strike on Ukrainian infrastructure yesterday by Russian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry (MoD) in a press briefing detailed its retaliatory attacks which it described as a direct response to the shelling of Russian territory. The MoD confirmed that it has hit “energy and military industry facilities, railway junctions and arsenals,” reported Zero Hedge.
