The paradise island of Maui, Hawaii’s second-largest island, is reeling from a devastating wildfire tragedy that has left a staggering death toll that has now risen to 106. CBS New York’s Jordan Segundo and film team captured the pain and resilience of residents in the once-historic town of Lahaina.

Just a week ago, wildfires tore through the town, turning homes and memories into ash. “Everything is gone,” lamented one local, capturing the collective sentiment. Fires have also plagued the other side of Maui in the town of Kula.

On Wednesday, many residents ventured back for the first time since the disaster, having to confront the ruins of what once was their home. Yet, in the midst of despair, one resident expressed gratitude: “Thank God I have my husband, and I still survived.”

Unfortunately, we’re now finding out that news for Lahaina and Kula residents has gotten “even worse.”

Shelby Thomson, Founder of Unjected, reported from Maui that the water supply is compromised.

“We’re experiencing, now, an issue with the water supply. We’re being told that the water is not safe to drink. It’s also not safe after boiling, which is quite frightening. And we don’t know how long these restrictions are going to be lasting on the public.”

Thomson also reported that the potable water brought in by the government is “making people ill.”

“We’re also hearing that the potable water being brought in by government officials is making people ill for whatever reason. They’re experiencing fevers, chills, and other ailments from drinking this potable water that’s been left. So I really urge you guys to please be careful on ingesting this water, and where you’re getting it from.”

One Facebook user reported getting “super sick” from drinking the government-provided water. “Extremely ill, 104 fevers, and still ill/careful.”

In light of the ongoing challenges, Unjected, The Wellness Company, and an emerging company, InpHuzed, are stepping up to provide support.

They’re dispatching emergency hydration satchels packed with amino acids, glutathione, and essential nutrients to ensure that fire survivors stay hydrated in the absence of safe drinking water. These satchels are en route to Maui, and upon their arrival, they will be distributed at supply docks in Kihei and will further reach residents on the west side and in Kula.

Here is their formal response to the situation:

The Wellness Company (TWC) is rallying its network of partner organizations to extend a helping hand to the devastated community of Lahaina, Maui. The recent wildfires have wreaked havoc, leaving homes destroyed, lives upended, and the specter of dehydration looming large. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, TWC is harnessing its resources, expertise, and partnerships to ensure that vital hydration reaches those in dire need.

The Wellness Company, known for its holistic virtual care services and innovative wellness products, is leveraging its collaboration with sister companies InpHuzed and Unjected to provide immediate assistance. Unjected, whose CEO Shelby Thompson is a local resident and on the ground in Maui, is playing a pivotal role in distributing resources to those affected. Shelby’s commitment to the community, combined with Unjected’s strategic positioning on the island, is facilitating the efficient delivery of essential supplies.

The Wellness Company and InpHuzed are redirecting their efforts to address the pressing hydration crisis. InPHuzed, a forthcoming TWC sister company, is poised to unveil a revolutionary hydration product – the InPHuzed Hydration Pack. These groundbreaking gel packs, powered by the patented ElectraCell™ technology, enable rapid absorption of electrolytes and minerals, redefining hydration efficiency.

The catastrophe in Lahaina has highlighted the immediate risk for the people of the island who are still struggling with clean drinking water, and TWC, in partnership with InPHuzed, has made the decision to channel its entire launch production of InpHuzed Hydration Packs to the thousands of affected families in Maui. This act of solidarity exemplifies TWC’s dedication to the well-being of people above all else.

Founder of The Wellness Company, Foster Coulson, stated, “In times of crisis, the strength of our interconnectedness shines brightest. Our collaboration with Unjected and InpHuzed showcases the power of unity and empathy. We’re prioritizing the health and resilience of the Maui community, standing united in the ways we feel will make the fastest and greatest impact.”

Shelby, CEO of Unjected, who is actively aiding the affected community, added, “Being on the ground in Maui has shown me the dire need for immediate support. Dehydration is a real threat, and we’re deeply grateful to partner with TWC and InpHuzed to deliver life-saving hydration solutions.”

This joint endeavor underscores the unwavering commitment of TWC, InPHused, and Unjected to prioritize human health and well-being. While the official launch of InpHuzed Hydration Packs may be temporarily paused, the collaborative effort to provide essential support remains steadfast. In the spirit of unity and humanity, TWC, along with its sister companies, is ensuring that Maui receives the aid it urgently requires.

So, amidst the despair and adversity, the collective efforts of companies like The Wellness Company, InpHuzed, and Unjected offer a glimmer of hope, exemplifying the unwavering Aloha spirit. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community, collaboration, and compassion in times of catastrophe.
