Study Links Unexpected Vaginal Bleeding in Women Who Do Not Menstruate with mRNA Vaccination

A new Norwegian study, entitled: Unexpected vaginal bleeding and COVID-19 vaccination in nonmenstruating women has been widely circulated on social media. It even drew attention from the mainstream media, with the UK’s Mail Online running the headline: Covid vaccines DO cause unexpected vaginal bleeding in women – even if they haven’t had their period in YEARS, study finds. Forbes also reported on the study’s findings.

The landmark study by Blix et al. published in Science Advances on September 22, 2023 uniquely investigated the association between COVID-19 vaccines (Comirnaty and Spikevax) and unexpected vaginal bleeding in three groups of nonmenstruating women (22,000 participants), including postmenopausal and those who were peri-and premenopausal but nonmenstruating because of hormonal contraception use.

“In this study, we have documented the responses from a large sample of women who were asked about unexpected vaginal bleeding shortly after vaccination.” Kristine Blix, a medical doctor and researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

The Norwegian researchers found:

In postmenopausal women, the risk of unexpected vaginal bleeding (i.e., postmenopausal bleeding) in the 4 weeks after COVID-19 vaccination was increased two- to threefold, compared to a prevaccination period. The corresponding risk of unexpected vaginal bleeding after vaccination was increased three- to fivefold in both nonmenstruating peri- and premenopausal women. In premenopausal women, the first 4 weeks after a dose of Spikevax was associated with a 32% increased risk as compared to Comirnaty.

They concluded:

Together with current knowledge, it seems probable that both pre- and postmenopausal women are at increased risk of unexpected vaginal bleeding after COVID-19 vaccination.

This ground-breaking 2023 study showing a large group of women who had stopped having periods (whether due to menopause or hormone use), but suddenly experienced vaginal bleeding, shortly following mRNA vaccination, is revealing as it draws attention to yet another unexpected and unusual side effect of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, not disclosed as part of informed consent.

‘Wild Rumours’ of menstrual disturbances

It has also been published against a backdrop of thousands of cases of women reporting menstrual disturbances, such as heavy bleeding, shortly following mRNA vaccination from 2021 onwards. But these women’s stories, just like other vaccine-injuries were branded as ‘anti-vax conspiracy theories’ and ‘wild rumours.’

However, due to the sheer volume of reports, even the BBC reported on it in May 2021, but with a carefully included caveat that these effects were “short-term.”

It took until October 2022, for the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to add “heavy menstrual bleeding” as a side effect for Comirnaty (Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA vaccine) and Spikevax (Moderna’s mRNA vaccine).

Regulators knew about menstrual disorders from early 2021

However, the EMA was made aware of this adverse effect, well over a year before, from early 2021 as it was referenced in Pfizer/BioNTech’s first ever Periodic Safety Update Report (PSUR) submitted to the regulator, which I analysed for Children’s Health Defense, Europe. This PSUR report series (#1 #2 #3) was only made available by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by a group of European medical professionals. The regulator, the vaccine manufacturer (Pfizer) and Marketing Authorisation Holder (BioNTech) never had the intention of sharing them with the public. As stated in my February 2023 report, this important appendix of ‘Menstrual Disorders’ was never disclosed as part of the FOIA release.

Also, it’s worth pointing out that the regulator wanted BioNTech to review a separate ‘post-marketing cases evaluation of the cases reporting a menstrual disorder, which should also include a sub-analysis of cases divided between post-menopausal cases and menstrual disorder cases.’

In addition, the EMA also wanted BioNTech to conduct ‘an O/E analysis with sensitivity to compensate for backlog cases, for Menstrual disorders, including an age-stratified analysis which separates females of childbearing age from post-menopausal women.’

This is evidence that the alarm signal of menstrual disturbances in post-menopausal women was detected from early 2021 and known by the European regulator, well over two years before the Blix et al. study.

Pfizer/BioNTech’s cover-up

Furthermore, shockingly disclosed in the PSUR was the vaccine manufacturers’ overtly patronising and dismissive conclusion, shown below.

According to Pfizer/BioNTech, these menstruual disorders were “likely to be associated with psychological distress and stress related to the pandemic, weight gain, longer working hours and dietary changes…and this analysis does not support a causal association between vaccinationa and menstrual alteration in women. There is a compelling alternative explanation for mentrual irregularity during these pandemic times..”
