Tuberville Backs Hegseth for Defense Role: ‘We Need Drastic Change’ in Military Leadership

Senator Tommy Tuberville endorses Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary, highlighting the need for significant military reform.

Tuberville criticizes previous Democratic administrations for undermining military effectiveness through policies like racial quotas and critical race theory, suggesting that these have led to low morale and recruitment issues.

“We need drastic change, and President Trump wants to change it all. This will be our last chance. The problem that we’ve had since Bill Clinton is that he tried to destroy the military. George Bush kind of got it back on track. Barack Obama really went for the jugular and did a lot of damage to our military, pushing all these quotas and critical race theory.”

He asserts that Hegseth is uniquely qualified due to his military service, business acumen, and ability to connect with current service members as a ‘drill sergeant’ rather than just another general.

“Pete Hegseth will do the job. He understands it. 20-year war fighter, business guy, well-educated. He’s not a general, and I love that. We need a drill sergeant. We don’t need a general in the Pentagon to run the DoD.”

Tuberville dismisses concerns over Hegseth’s past as a TV commentator, focusing instead on his merit and experience.

He defends Hegseth against the media-driven smears, akin to those faced by other political figures like Kavanaugh, suggesting a pattern of undermining Trump’s appointees.
