UKRAINE: Drone Attack Hits Largest Nuclear Power Plant in Europe

On Sunday, April 7, the IAEA recorded at least three direct hits to the main protective shell of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant reactor. The General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said this on the X social network.

“Today, for the first time since November 2022 and after I laid out the 5 main principles of avoiding a serious nuclear accident with radiological consequences, ISAMZ (IAEA Support and Facilitation Mission in Zaporizhzhia – ed.) confirmed that there were at least 3 direct hits to the main structure protective shell of the ZNPP reactor. This should not happen,” wrote Grossi.

The Zelenskiy government is blaming the Russian military, claiming a dark terrorist attack against the Ukrainian people.

The radioactive fallout from a successful attack against the large nuclear power facility would threaten Europe.

The Russians are claiming the attack was a cynical ploy by the Zelenskiy government to threaten Europe to send more weapons and aid.

A pro-Russian source declared,

“The last 48h Kiev has been bombing the biggest nuke facility in EU based in Zaporozhiya two days on a row. We talk about a facility that is about 4 times bigger than Tchernobyl. Regarding the wind current in that region at that period of the year (mostly north to south), if there was a major accident the full Europe could be contaminated. NONE of the European representations said anything about it, neither the media, as if whatever Kiev would do they would be forgiven for it. Even the International Atomic Energy Agency seems to ignore the facts.”
