In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, former United States Congressman Ron Paul reiterated his long-held stance on non-interventionist foreign policy. As a staunch Libertarian, Paul has consistently advocated against the interventionist tendencies of US foreign policy, a stance that has often placed him at odds with mainstream political discourse.

However, Paul’s unwavering commitment to this ideology has allowed him to foresee and accurately predict events that others may have overlooked.

One such instance occurred in 2014 when Paul began discussing the dangers of US involvement in Ukraine, long before it became a focal point of international attention. At a time when few were paying heed to the region, Paul raised concerns about the potential catastrophic consequences of US intervention.

He highlighted the US government’s covert efforts, including the expenditure of $5 billion of taxpayer money, to influence and manipulate the political landscape in Ukraine, ultimately leading to the ousting of Viktor Yanukovych’s government.

“We’ve been involved too much, and I take a non-interventionist foreign policy position,”

“It’s not our business. It doesn’t serve anybody’s interest. It’s part of the same thing that led us into the disaster in the Middle East.”

The question arises: how did Ron Paul manage to anticipate the unfolding crisis in Ukraine when it was largely overlooked by mainstream discourse?

According to Paul himself, his ability to recognize patterns and foresee potential outcomes stems from his training as an Austrian school economist. This economic perspective emphasizes understanding underlying principles and historical precedents, enabling Paul to draw parallels and anticipate future events.

Moreover, Paul’s innate sense of curiosity and willingness to question prevailing narratives played a crucial role in his prescient analysis. By asking critical questions (ie who’s going to benefit) and not accepting the status quo, he was able to discern the motivations behind US intervention in Ukraine and foresee the detrimental consequences it could unleash.
